How to Use Shot Glasses for Wedding Favors by Karen S Musselman
Couples are always looking for something more exciting and fun for their wedding favors and some couples want to give their guests small, yet useful and elegant favors. One way to give something exciting and fun yet small and elegant is to use shot glasses for wedding favors.
Shot glasses make perfect wedding favors since they can be personalized by having them engraved and they're not something the guests are likely to throw or give away later on. Just like the little souvenirs from anywhere else, they can be personalized with the couple's name, wedding date and even a short "Thank You" type message.
They're also an extremely versatile type of wedding favor because they can be decorated up, wrapped, hold candies or cookies or really anything that's small, and they don't really cost a lot if you shop around, especially online, and buy them in bulk.
Fill with Candy and Wrap Them Up
One way to use shot glasses for wedding favors is to place small wedding M&M's inside them and wrap them in decorative tulle that matches the wedding colors. Or you can wrap them in customized papers for really unique homemade wedding favors.
To do this, buy colored construction paper in one or more colors that match your wedding theme, or buy white paper and tie color ribbon around the outside. Cut the paper to a little higher than the size of the glass, then wrap the paper around the glass.
This gives you a kind of decorative "bucket" look. Then you fill the glass with candies or a couple of small homemade cookies, or personalized matches, really anything that you feel expresses yourself to your guests and fits your personality and the tone of the wedding.
Use Them as Candle Holders
Another way to use them for wedding favors is to combine them with small votive candles. Like with the paper, buy candles that are the colors of the wedding and drop them into the glasses. Then add some ribbon or a tag to the outside to personalize it a bit.
Fill Them with Plantable Seeds or Potpourri
A lot of couples today are giving plantable seeds for wedding favors and what better way to package the seeds than placing small packets of them into the shot glasses. When the guests go home and plant the seeds, they'll still have the decorative shot glass to display as a keepsake of the wedding.
You can also buy frosted glasses and then have them etched with your names and wedding date. Frosted shot glasses make beautiful small packages for seeds, potpourri or candies.
Mix It Up - Buy Different Sizes
