Using a small night-light with an extension cord to replace a 60 watt bulb?
I'm currently looking at ways to save energy, and my first thought is to stop leaving 60 watt bulbs on overnight. I've decided to instead use small plug-in night lights in my bathooms and hallways instead.
My question is since most of my outlets aren't in conveient spaces to emit light, could I use an extension cord to move the light to a better spot? Is it safe to do that and will still be conserving energy?
Extension cords are ok.
Another thing to do is use CFL lights instead of incandescent, you save 2/3 of the power.
I'd consider motion sensors into which you plug the lights. They go on when you walk nearby and go off a few minutes after you leave the room.
